New Year brings new opportunities

A Quiet Day of Mindful Appreciation.

As is our tradition, my wife Suzannah and I spend New Years Day in Silence with an agenda specifically designed to generate personal and joint collages. This is something we started 5 years ago to focus our intention and unity in the coming years endeavors.  If anyone wants the schedule just let me know I'd be more than happy to share it with you.

So much of my intentions for the coming year are centered around the changing focus on Green; green businesses, green jobs, sustainability, alternative fuels and other environmentally conscious endeavors.  I am finding myself more and more concerned with the world that my son will inherit from me and the generation that is now in full control of the purse strings.  I feel that we are perilously close to the point of no return in a number of areas and would like to find ways- actionably ways to pull back from the brink.  So I am renewed in my efforts to find means to cause action and change.

The way we were

For many years now I have witnessed the dissolution of the creative for the sake of the art.  In recent years it has become creativity on demand or accidental creative which rule the day.  This is a shame.  As a professional creative it has become increasingly difficult for me or any of my contemporaries to leisurely  create something just for the sake of its creation.  Its a shame because that is where inspirations comes from.  Due to the pressure to produce and fulfill deadlines and requirements of clients, meeting presentations, networking and prospecting I feel so tapped at the end of the day I really just want to forget work and watch a movie or do a crossword puzzle, yes Charlotte there is no program TV in my home (cable nor satellite dish).  But the moment of inspiration is defeated by the moment of availability.  My wife says that I could be creating instead of writing this blog so I will.   Tata for now.  TK
